What is a roof for you? What are the consequences of having a roof over your head or being without one? We invite you to explain it to us by sharing a photograph.
Every day at the Arrels Foundation we see the realities of life for homeless people. However, we are sure that many of you are aware of these issues as well and we know that your contributions and ideas can play a role and help us to face these challenges. For these reasons, in the next few months we would like to collect as many photographs and commentaries as possible, in order to know what having a roof over your head or not having one means for you. We would like to unite our voices and be heard during 2010, the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
Here’s how to participate:
1. Take a photo that explains what a roof means to you. It can be the roof of your home, a starry night, a drawing of your child, a roof covered with tiles…Oh! And don’t forget to provide a title for the photo!
2. Write two or three lines explaining what a roof means to you, or how we can provide shelter to everyone in Barcelona.
3. Send us your photo in one of the following ways:
Add the photo directly to the Flickr group we’ve created called “Put a Roof Over Barcelona” (You can do this if you already have an existing Flickr account).
Send your photo to

. We will add the photos we receive to our Flikr group, including your name and using the title that you send us. Remember, when you send us your photo please include your first and last name.
You can send your photo on your own, motivate your classmates to contribute a group photo, invite your co-workers and envision shelter for Barcelona… If you have Facebook you can also share your images on the Arrels Foundation Facebook page Or if you have a blog, you can post images and text that lend a roof and let us know about it.
